The Walt Disney Company agreed to a $50 million class action settlement following antitrust allegations regarding its sports content and channel packaging practices.
What Is the Settlement About?
The lawsuit, Biddle v. The Walt Disney Company, claimed Disney used its market power over ESPN to force distributors into bundling channels, ultimately driving up live TV streaming prices for consumers.
While Disney denies any wrongdoing, they agreed to compensate affected subscribers to settle the lawsuit.
Who Qualifies for a Payout?
You are eligible to file a claim if you paid for a YouTube TV subscription anytime between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2026.
Subscribers of DirecTV Stream, DirecTV Now, or AT&T TV Now during that same timeframe also qualify for compensation.
How Much Money Will You Get?
The final payout amount per person isn't fixed yet because it depends on how many total claims are filed.
Your individual payout will be calculated proportionally based on how long you maintained your qualifying subscription.
How and When to File
You must submit your claim online or mail it with a postmark date no later than September 8, 2026.
Claims can be submitted directly through the official Online TV Settlement Website.
When Will You Receive the Payment?
Payments won't go out immediately after you file, as the court still needs to give final approval.
The official final approval hearing is scheduled for January 14, 2027, after which approved payments will be distributed.
